The genesis of the modern State : back to Max Weber

The historical turning point initiated by sociology of the State in recent years has prompted some researchers to query the categorizing modes through which are devised feudality, patrimonialization, and depatrimonialization of political power or, further still, the impact of domination groups. Three recent works give us the opportunity to assess the richness of this conceptual tool passed on by Max Weber.
