Economic analysis of politics : the reasons for being, real problems and false criticism
pp. 229-243
The economic analysis of politics has been the object of severe criticism from political science specialists especially in France. It is first shown how critics keep an exaggeratedly narrow definition, almost a caricature, of what is called the « economic method », at least in its modern day form ; how this type of analysis bas few candidates to reply to the precise questions it asks. This leads to further questioning on the quality and interest of the results obtained and on the evolution of the economic method as a means of dealing with the « political issue ».
