The development of health sociology in France at the crossroads of several worlds (1950-1985)
pp. 121-148
The conditions under which health sociology appeared and developed in France between 1950 and 1985 are analyzed. After a brief historical review, the focus shifts to the institutional, scientific and political mechanisms, and interactions among them, that made it possible for this field to develop. The study is based on several decades of personal research experience as well as a rereading of existing studies.
